Huang Yuan-Yu is a Taiwanese photographic artist. Since 2006, he has been dedicated to discovering the beauty of Taiwan through his lens, contemplating the various possibilities behind images, believing that "beauty is not just about seeing." His works have been recognized in photographic art exhibitions nationwide, adeptly using montage techniques to depict the essence and variability of life, imbued with philosophical depth.
In his series "Form and Imagery," Huang simplifies withered lotus stems into abstract lines, combining them with fictional pictographic characters to explore conventional collective memories and trace the development of civilization. He posits that while different scripts originate from pictographs recording life experiences, geographical variations lead to diverse living habits, resulting in differing imagery in script development. Through these works, he seeks to trace the essence of art, revealing that art, though seemingly objective, is subjectively defined by regional contexts.
