印尼賽牛｜陳國釧

印尼傳統的賽牛，起源於印尼的蘇門答臘島，有著百年的歷史，原先是農民在收穫祭後舉行的比賽，主要目的是為了娛樂當地民眾。在賽牛中，他們用木製工具把兩隻牛栓在一起，參賽者使勁拉著兩隻牛的尾巴在水田裡快速奔跑。泥漿飛濺，場面熱鬧壯觀。參賽者需拉緊牛的尾巴讓他們在泥地中快速奔跑，不斷飛濺的泥漿讓參賽者變成了”泥人”。這項活動的評判標準也較特別，跑得最快不一定是冠軍，必須由起點至終點都跑在一條直線上才能成為勝利者。
The Indonesian tradition of bull racing started in Sumatra with the history of hundreds of years. At first, it was a competition held by farmers after the harvest festival celebrations for entertaining the local people. In the contest, two bulls are bound together with a wooden yoke-like implement to form as a team, and several teams race against each other egged on from behind by their drivers. Since the races often take place on muddy terrain, the drivers are soon completely covered in mud. It is interesting to note that the fastest pair of bulls does not always win the race but the one which runs as straight as it can from the start to the finish line.
