動物園是一種物種支配的結果，我們認為他們比我們低等，也因為是不同物種所以覺得特別、有趣、新奇，然後捕捉他們供自己觀賞。自私佔據了我們的心，我們以為提供他們舒適的場所，溫飽的三餐，完善的醫療，就等同了愛他們。以這為思考點的話，監獄好像是個好居所。
同理心。我們站立在這世界之內，我們要感受的是萬物，我們要理解的是他人，我們要面對的是真實的自我，人並不無所不能。但人能創造可能。動物不是人類的所有物和籌碼。我們都一樣。還有誰是真正的在乎？
Zoos are the product of a kind of speciesism. We consider other species to be inferior to us. But because we also think animals are interesting and novel, we capture them and keep them for our viewing pleasure.
Motivated by selfishness, we believe that we “love” them by giving them a comfortable environment that’s as natural as possible, keeping them sheltered and supplying them with all the food and medical care. From this perspective, a prison could also seem like a good place to live as well.
Empathy: The ability to see the world around us through the eyes of other creatures, to understand others and discover our own true self. Humans are not omnipotent, but we are capable of creating possibilities. Animals are not the possessions of human beings. We are all the same. Who still really cares about that, though?
